Description: Fluzone is a sterile suspension prepared from influenza viruses propagated in embryonated chicken eggs, and is indicated for active immunization against influenza disease caused by influenza virus types A and B contained in thevaccine in subjects from 6 months of age and older. The original formulation for adults (Influenza Virus Vaccine Trivalent Types A and B, Zonal Purified, Subvirion) may have been approved by the FDA as early as the 1940's (actual date is uncertain). The intradermal form uses a very fine needle and is intended to take advantage of the greater number of immune cells in the dermis. Neither form of the vaccine is adjuvanted.
