Drug Names(s): S-5751
Description: S-5751 is a relatively selective prostanoid (or prostaglandin) DP receptor antagonist. The receptor is present on mast cells and eosinophils, which generate molecules thought to be involved in asthma. An important ligand for the receptor, Prostaglandin D2, is the most abundant prostanoid in the airways of asthmatics after a challenge with allergans. Prostaglandin D2 is produced by mast cells responding to IGE-dependent (immunoglobulin E) stimuli in asthma and other allergy related conditions.
