Description: Cyklokapron competitively inhibits the activation of plasminogen to plasmin, a molecule responsible for the degradation of fibrin. Fibrin forms a mesh that is part of blood clots. An oral formulation of the drug has been discontinued in the US. At much higher concentrations, tranexamic acid is a noncompetitive inhibitor of plasmin.
