Drug Names(s): metolazone
Description: Zaroxolyn is used to treat high blood pressure and fluid retention caused by various conditions, including heart disease. Though different in structure from the thiazide diuretics, it acts by the same mechanism, blocking the Na/Cl transporter in the distal tubules of the kidney. This leads to salt and hence water excretion.
