ST1535

Sigma-Tau S.p.A.

Drug Names(s): ST1535, Metabolites: ST-3932, ST-4206

Description: ST1535 is a novel adenosine A2a receptor antagonist. Four principal adenosine receptor subtypes are known: A1, A2a, A2b, and A3. The A1 receptor regulates heart rhythm and has renal vascular modulator effects. The A2a receptor regulates blood vessel tone and has neuromodulatory functions. The A3 receptor is implicated in the cardioprotective effects of adenosine. Outside of the vascular system, adenosine receptors are also implicated in the regulation of mast cell degranulation, wound healing, ischemia induced damage, platelet activation, and angiogenesis.
